What is PatGlueDB?
PatGlueDB is a patent-derived molecular glue bioactivity database. It curates compounds, activity records, assay contexts, patents, targets, E3 ligases, cell lines, activity metrics and patent assignees from source patent evidence.
The database is designed to help users search, browse and trace molecular glue bioactivity data back to its original patent-page evidence.
Search
Use the Search page to query PatGlueDB by target, E3 ligase, compound name, compound ID, SMILES, activity metric, cell line, patent number or assignee.
Example queries include GSPT1, CRBN, thalidomide, DC50, MM.1S, AU2024296347A1 and Novartis.
Search results are grouped by entity type, including Compound, Activity Record, Assay, Patent, Target, E3 Ligase, Cell Line, Activity Metric and Assignee. Users can view all results together or switch to a specific result type.
PatGlueDB also supports patent family search. When patent family metadata is available, searching one family member can retrieve records linked to related patent family members.
Browse
The Browse page provides entry points to the main data modules:
Compounds, Activity Records, Assays, Patents, Targets, E3 Ligases, Cell Lines, Activity Metrics and Assignees.
Assignees refer to patent assignees, applicants or related organizations. They may include companies, research institutes, hospitals, universities and other organizations.
Activity Records
Activity records are the core data units in PatGlueDB. Each activity record represents one curated bioactivity evidence item extracted from a patent.
An activity record typically links a compound, an activity value, an assay context and a patent source. The Activity Record detail page shows the activity metric, relation, value, unit, target, E3 ligase, cell line, treatment time, assay context, patent source and QC status.
Activity values should be interpreted together with their assay context and source evidence. Values from different patents, assay systems, readouts or treatment conditions should not be directly compared without considering context.
Detail Pages
Compound detail pages provide molecular structure, physicochemical properties, linked activity records and related patents.
Activity Record detail pages provide normalized activity information, assay context and source evidence.
Assay detail pages summarize experimental context, including assay family, assay system, readout, target, E3 ligase, cell line and linked activity records.
Patent detail pages provide patent metadata, assignee information, patent family information, linked compounds and linked activity records.
Source Evidence
PatGlueDB provides patent-page-level evidence for curated activity records.
On the Activity Record detail page, the Source Evidence section links each curated record to its supporting patent evidence page and displays two evidence panels:
- Compound location: shows where the compound appears in the patent. The relevant compound is highlighted with a green border and yellow background.
- Activity table: shows the corresponding activity table or table region. The relevant table area is highlighted with a blue border and yellow background.
To keep source evidence focused and traceable, PatGlueDB displays curated page-level evidence related to the selected activity record rather than providing complete original patent PDFs.
Traceable Evidence Example
The homepage includes a Traceable Evidence Example that shows how one normalized activity record connects back to its original patent source.
The example links a patent compound location, a source activity table and a curated activity record. The compound location uses a green border with yellow highlighting, while the activity table uses a blue border with yellow highlighting.
This example helps users understand the evidence chain used throughout PatGlueDB before opening individual Activity Record, Compound or Patent detail pages.
Statistics
The Statistics page summarizes the PatGlueDB data landscape, including patent publication trends, activity metric distribution, target-E3 relationships, chemical space and source coverage.
These charts are designed for overview and navigation. Users should open the linked records and source evidence when interpreting individual compounds, activity values or patent-derived trends.
Data limitations
PatGlueDB is based on patent-derived evidence. Patent-reported assay conditions may be incomplete, and activity values from different patents or experimental systems may not be directly comparable.
Some records may lack target, E3 ligase, cell line, treatment time or readout information. Major entities are normalized, but edge cases may remain. QC status is provided to flag records with uncertainty, ambiguity or other issues requiring caution.
PatGlueDB is intended as a search, organization and evidence-tracing resource for patent-derived molecular glue bioactivity data, rather than a uniformly generated experimental dataset.
Data access
The Download page provides information about data access, versioning and future release plans. Public data download is currently not available.
